The Soviet Union Historical Works,
Part Seven:
In World War 2, the Soviet Union had captured many regions. These regions would be eastern Germany, eastern Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Albania and Yugoslavia, off Germany, as well as German allied Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. These regions would be under Soviet control after World War 2, besides the eastern part of the German city of Berlin. Which was given to the control of France, Brittan, and America as part of an agreement, in World War 2. France, Britain and America, would also control western Germany.
Also in World War 2, the Soviet Union forced Japan to give northern Korea to be under Soviet control. While America would force Japan to give southern Korea to be under American control. Korea being a colony of Japan during World War 2.
The Soviet Union also controlled and occupied northern Iran, from capturing it, during World war 2. The Soviet Union captured it, off Iran, who was believed to about to be a ally with Germany, in World war 2. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin would make northern Iran and Britain's occupied southern Iran a independent capitalist nation. With the Soviet Union only getting some Iranian oil. Due to pressure from Britain and America.
The Soviet Union under its dictator Joseph Stalin, planned for territory it controlled, to be made into vassal nations( nations with another one having some control over it) of the Soviet Union and be forced into undemocratic communism. The excuse for making the controlled regions into vassal nations, was based around the belief that these regions owed the Soviet Union, for not being under non-communist dictatorships. The reason why they were planned to be undemocratic communism was, because in the Soviet governments belief of Leninism, a communist nation, should be under an undemocratic government that supports communism. Instead of a democratic government that may become non-communist.
All the power the Soviet Union had. As well as all the immorality, America believed the Soviet Union to have. Made America fear the Soviet Union invading and conquering capitalist(a non-communist belief) European countries. Including the country of Americas ally France. So America planned to give money for capitalist European countries, in the Marshall plan. The Marshall plan was to help capitalism as a whole, as well as to convince the people in the countries they shouldn't become communist and therefore make them less likely to be pro-Soviet. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, was opposed to the Marshall plan.
Also, by the end of World War 2 the Soviet Union under Joesph Stalin embraced a farming methods of Lysenkoism. The main belief of Lysenkoism is the belief that by being harsh to the crops such, as putting them under harsh weather the crops would evolve rapidly to adjust to such conditions. Another belief of Lysenkoism was that putting crops very close together would cause them to work together. This would have a negative effect on farming in the Soviet Union. The reason why such a belief was embraced by the Soviet Union, was because it went with the Soviet beliefs of Marxism that humans could be adjusted to embrace the community-based thinking of pure communism.
In 1946, America gave Greece and Turkey military supplies and so forth. To scare off and fight off the idea of communist rebels. Regardless of whether or not the rivalry started beforehand. This was an act in cold war, which was not an actual war, but a rivalry between America and the Soviet Union. The cold war was largely based around the communist and capitalist beliefs. With America being capitalist.
Capitalism as mentioned in part 1 of the historical work, is where people could own companies. The companies could as the company owner could make them. As well as that the companies were mostly in control of the economy. Such as companies not having heavy government regulation.
The Soviet Union under its government, would preach the idea of America being terrible, to its people out of white supremacy in America. As black and white people were not legally equal in America. The Soviet people also believed American people were oppressed by their capitalist government.
Throughout the cold war, some American agents were sent to the Soviet Union, to spy on them. The Soviet Union would catch them. Well over 10 of these agents were executed, by the Soviet Union.
Also in 1946 there was a rebellion against France, in the French colony of Vietnam. To make Vietnam a independent communist nation. So as part of the cold war, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, gave funding to the communist rebels.
Also in 1946, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, ended the Soviet governments police organisation, the NKVD.
Also from 1946-1947, a drought effected Ukrainian farms, causing a famine. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, still took the same amount of Ukrainian farmed food, to the Ukrainians in the cities and Soviet soldiers occupying regions, captured, in World war 2. This was because Ukrainian farmers, generally supported capitalism. This famine killed a 100,000s-1,000,0000 Ukrainians.
By 1948, all controlled regions besides, eastern Austria, northern Korea and eastern Germany, was made into communist vassal nations, by the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, as was planned.
In 1948, Yugoslavia declared it would no longer be a vassal nation of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, did not go to war with Yugoslavia, as Yugoslavia was too powerful.
Also in 1948, the Soviet Union under joseph Stalin, started slowly draining water from the lake, the Aral Sea. Which was one of the world's largest lakes, at the time and in a few Muslim regions, in the Soviet Union, mainly Uzbek. This was to use the water, for new the cotton fields in Muslim regions. This would get jobs for people, on cotton farms and to get more cotton, for the Soviet people. However, this would also kill fish, that lived in the water in the lake and be bad for fishing jobs near the lake. However, the Soviet newspapers and so forth, seemingly wouldn't have covered the negatives of draining the lake water, to the Soviet people.
Also in 1948, Britain would give up its small middle eastern colony of Palestine. One would be the nation of Palestine and the other would be the nation of Israel. Israel was a nation for the Jews. Israel would be a ally of the Soviet Unions cold war rival, America. This would lead to increased negative views of Jews, in the Soviet Union.
Lastly in 1948, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, would blockade the western Berlin. In the form of not allowing trains with food to travel to the western Berlin. This was to try getting France, Britain and America, to hand over western Berlin to be a part of Soviet controlled eastern Germany. This was also done as part of the cold war. This blockade would be called the Berlin blockade.
In the Berlin blockade, France, Britain and America, would send planes to drop food into western Berlin. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, did not shoot at the planes, as that would risk, America, Britain and France declaring war and therefore World War 3, on the Soviet Union.
In April 1949, America formed NATO(north Atlantic treaty organisation), with non-communist nations. It was a anti-communist alliance organisation. The members of NATO were:
The NATO members of Britain and France, controlled many African regions in the form colonies, with the excuse of racial supremacy. Britain had already given, its colonies of India and Burma independence, since World war 2.
In May, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, ended the Berlin blockade.
In August, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, tested a nuclear bomb they built. The Soviet Union had the technology to make the nuclear bombs, largely due to 2 communist agents, that helped give American nuclear technology information, to the Soviet Union. America had nuclear bombs beforehand. So this meant both the Soviet Union and their cold war rival America, had nuclear weapons.
The Soviet Union tested their nuclear bomb by bombing a desert in the Soviet region of Kazakh(now called Kazakhstan). The Soviet Union would continue to do nuclear bomb testing in Kazakh. The bomb test would be near Kazakh civilians. The radiation of the bombs would effect Kazakh civilians, including teenage and child ones. The newspapers and so forth, which were owned by the Soviet government, did not mention the radiation to the Soviet people. The Soviet government would send doctors to help the Kazakh civilians effected by the radiation. However, the Soviet government told its people, the doctors were sent to was to help with farming diseases.
Also in August, in the Chinese civil war. Communist China, conquered Nationalist China(capitalist China). Besides the large island of Taiwan. This was not only good for the Soviet Union, because it spread communism for more people around the world. But it also helped the Soviet Union in the cold war. As the cold war was based largely around communism and capitalism.
In 1949, the Soviet Union made eastern Germany and northern Korea into the vassal nations of north Korea and East Germany. Which were under undemocratic communism. While America, Britain and France made western Germany, western Berlin and southern Korea into the capitalist nations of west Germany and South Korea.
By 1950, the economy of the Soviet Union had improved. This could have been the result, of economic growth, that was due to the introduction of factories, of the Soviet Union rapid industrialisation plan, from the 1920s to 1930s. The Soviet Unions economy, would go on, to inprove.
In 1950, North Korea wanted to invade and conquer south Korea. To make Korea united and under communism. So the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, approved the invasion idea. This would start the Korea war. America would then help south Korea, largely due to the cold war.
America used planes in its military, to do airstrikes on north Korean forces. These airstrikes would kill a large amount of Korean civilians, including teenage and child ones, in the cross fire. These airstrikes would be mentioned in Soviet newspapers and so forth. As well as posters, by the Soviet government.
In 1951 North Korea declared independence from the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin, did not send Soviet forces to invade and fight north Korea. As that would distract North Korea, from fighting South Korea and America.
In 1951 the population of the Soviet Union was 182,300,000.
In 1953, the Kolyma highway was finished being built in Siberia, which was a region in the Soviet state of Russia. It was built by prisoners from the gulags(slave labour camps). 100,000s of gulag prisoners were killed building the road, from the cold.
Also by 1953, Joseph Stalin hated Jews. He approved the building, of 2 new slave labour camps. It’s alleged the slave labour camps, were meant for the Jews.
Also in 1953, Joseph Stalin became sick in his bedroom. His b bodyguards did not enter the bedroom, because he threated to execute the bodyguards if they entered his room. Joseph Stalin died of his sickness.
Joseph Stalin’s death would cause grief among the Soviet people. Largely because they believed he helped the Soviet Union a lot, in winning World War 2. A Soviet woman said quote, “we wondered what would happen to us. We had always thought of Stalin like a father who would always look out for us." Another Soviet woman said quote, “so many close relatives. I lost many because of him. For some reason I can’t explain, I cried too."
The new Soviet government would still be undemocratic, with only the communist party being allowed. However, the communist politicians shared power. With the Premier (president) of the Soviet Union being Georgi Malenkov. The other most powerful person in the Soviet Union was, Nikita Khrushchev, who was the General Secretary of the communist party. The new government would not send Jews to slave labour camps.
The farming methods of Lysenkoism, were significantly reduced and considered disputed. One politician in the Soviet Union, was planning to make the Soviet Union into a dictatorship, under him.
