From Texas, which became a part of America. Would till the 1860s, America and Texas, would use their soldiers, to steal property land, off Native American tribes. In Texas through conflict. In March of 1845, Florida would become a American slave state, instead of territory.

In October, America under President James Polk, sent 3,000 soldiers to Mexican territory and then back to America. There was still disputed territory between Texas( a state a part of America) and Mexico. Then America under President James Polk, offered Mexico money in return for the territory to be a part of democratic Texas and not Mexico under a dictatorship of Santa Ana.
As well as Mexican territory, which had lots of free land and little Mexicans in it. Which was outside of the disputed territory and would have territorial hood. The offer was refused.

In December, the territory of Texas, was to made into a slave state, with slavery. In 1845 the Irish famine began, which drove increased Irish immigration, to America. Most Irish were Catholic.
So some America Protestants, disliked it, as they wanted America, to stay mostly Protestant. There was a small amount, of American protestants. That thought there was the chance, or more. That Irish Catholics planned to rebel and insert Catholicism, in America.
The new Irish immigrants, were generally were given jobs, that were paid less money, due to racism, by companies. With them generally living in smaller houses, as a result.
Some Americans viewed non-Anglo(British or of British descent), as inferior to Anglo people. Often Americans also viewed the Hispanic(Spanish, or of Spanish descent) as inferior to standard white people.

In April of 1846, American soldiers were stationed there in Mexico. So the Mexican military attack them and killed 16 and made the rest retreat. So in May, James Polk asked the congressman, including senators, to propose a war. To invade Hispanic Mexico, which was under a dictatorship, to get the disputed territory for the state of Texas. As well as capturing other Mexican territory, to make it under territorial hood. Mexico was Catholic and James Pol and many Americans were protestants. So it is possible there was an anti-Catholic excuse for the war.

After 2 days the law was proposed to the president and he approved it, so the war begin. Many Americans viewed the war as wrong, out of the amount racism to Hispanic ( Spanish or of Spanish descent) people. As well as the fear, that America itself, was looking to expand slavery into Mexican territory, as Mexico had slavery illegal.
Many Americans support the war, largely in the southern states, which was where most of the slave states were. Many also supported the war out of the idea Hispanic people, being inferior and out of the idea of spreading democracy, by making the territory apart of the more democratic America. In that month of May, the American navy did a blockade of the east cost of America, trying to attack the civilian economy of Mexico.
The army had sent 9,000 soldiers to war. As well as 50,000 extra soldiers, through volunteers, that would get weak training, just for the war. The American soldiers would get more payment then a average job at the time, in the form of land for housing. The state of Arkansas, would send militia soldiers to help the American army.

Throughout the war America would have more modern weaponry to Mexico. 2,400 soldiers under general Zachary Taylor, were sent to the disputed territory, to take it. After battles, northern rio Grande was taken by America.
In June, Hispanic and American-Mexican rebels in California, took control of the Mexican region of California, which population was of mostly Native Americans. They declared it the nation of California. Then from Oregon, Navy ships docked and towns surrendered. Then the naval sent in soldiers into the declared country and it was surrender. Also in June, the joint British and American rule of Oregon would end. With Oregon become a nationally controlled American territory.
In September, the forces of Zachary Taylor, would then go east to fort city Monterrey and sieged it, for less then a month. The military would send for food and much more soldiers in the siege. They charged into the city, but the larger amount of Mexican soldiers, including those in regular houses, shot at them.
After 2 days of fighting, some of General Zachary’s forces went into houses to fight Mexican soldiers. The Mexicans retreated and Monterrey was captured and occupied. 120 American soldiers died and a small amount of Mexican civilians were killed by Zachary’s forces. Generally in wartime, civilian deaths caused by their side is covered up, to the public.
Throughout the rest of the yea, America would capture, and occupy much of north Mexico east of California, through their soldiers. In December, Iowa would become a state out of territory, once a part of the Louisianan territory.
There would also be a small Californian rebellion for independence. Also in 1846 there was a American reduction in import taxes, called the Walker Tariff. The Californian rebellion, would be suppressed, in January of 1847, by America doing a joint navy and army assault.

In February of 1847, Zachary’s forces would go into the mountain area of Buena Vista. A larger Mexican force would assault and start beating Zachary’s forces, until American reinforcements. Which was under colonial Jefferson Davis, came and destructed the Mexicans forces. So Zachary’s forces reorganised and help Jeffersons forces, attack the Mexican forces. The Mexican forces retreated and America won the battle of Buena Vista.

In March, the American naval landed 12,000 American soldiers, under general Winfield. That would siege a city on the Mexican east cost, Veracruz, with 12,000 American soldiers. Winfield ordered his forces to target stationed Mexican soldiers in the city, with cannons. 500-1000 Mexican civilians, including teenage and child ones were injured, or killed, in the cross fire. The city surrendered.
With besides a small that occupied the city, Winfield forces march to try and take the Mexican capital, of Mexico City. Mexico tried to ambush the forces, but Winfield had seen it before hand. So they were able to beat the Mexican forces in the mountain pass battle, which made the Mexican forces retreated. He then decided not to attack the city, straight away afterwards.
There was more soldiers given to Winfield’s forces, by August. This made them try to march to Mexico City again. There was another battle and again American forces won and the forces retreated to a fort called Chapultepec.
In September, they attacked Mexican forces at the fort Chapultepec and won again. Winfield forces then march into Mexico City, to occupy it, in that month of September. Then the fighting was over, in the war.

In February of 1848, a peace treaty was signed, which would have America handing over the occupied cities of Veracruz and Mexico City. As well as Mexico legally summiting other territory captured by America and the remaining disputed territory, to Texas. As well as America giving over $10 million to Mexico, which was a cheap price for the territory.
By the end of the war, over 4,000 American soldiers, got injured. 1,000 American soldiers killed and 20,000 Mexican soldiers killed as a result of the war. The militias of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky helped in occupied captured territory. The Mexican Hispanics, in the territory had equal rights, but were often socially viewed as inferior.
There was dispute over if the new territory should have slavery, or not. Which was between Pro slavery and anti slavery people. This was the large tiebreaker, that lead to the social divide between people of the non slavery northern states and people, in the slave Southern states.
By 1848, generally people, of the non-slave northern states, thought it was wrong, for Southern people, to have slaves, at all. People in the south felt that slavery, was a state matter and not a national matter. So Southerners felt, a National ban on slavery, would be bossing the states around. Which would make Southerners, dislike the idea, of a national slave ban, even more.
Another reason, why so many regular Southern people, were against the idea, of a national slave ban and to a lesser scale state bans, as well. Was due, to, pro slavery propaganda, in the South. Surrounding, how in 1804, after the slaves, were given freedom and their own nation, in Haiti. Some of the slaves massacred, at least 3,000 white civilians, in Haiti. Only some of who, were former slave masters. Which made Southerners, have a fear, over violence, based around the idea, of the freedom slaves. However, Haiti had the black people, being the majority, in power. When if they were to be free, in America, black people, would be, the minority.
There were a few slave states, not in what is known as the South. To get land in the form of property, the America sent its military, to start conflicts, with the Native American tribes, in the captured western territories.
The western territories would have immigrants from the rest of America. While rest of America, would have enough space for immigrants from other nations. So seemingly the western territories would maintain, the immigration flow, from other nations. In March, out of the once northwest territory, Wisconsin, would become a state.
Next year, in 1849 General Zachary Taylor, became President after election. Also in 1849, gold would be found in California, this would bring immigration, to the region, from the rest of America and a small amount, from China. This would also result in the conquest, of Native American tribes, property land, by the American military, through conflict, in California. As well as racially motived, anti-immigration extremist violence, on Chinese immigrants.
By 1850, the southern states, got their own subculture. As they had their own music. They were also more religious, then the other American regions. Possibly not including, the New England states. Which were states, on the very north, of the east coast. Southerners also had a southern identity and unity, due to it. American Southerners, were also known as Dixies.
The South, was still farming based, which was largely was made up of tobacco and cotton, Plantations. In the case of Louisiana, sugar cane plantations. The plantations were still worked on, by slaves. While free Southerners, generally worked on farms, that farmed food.
In 1850, black adult, teenage and child slaves, were still sometimes sold from their family, by slave masters. Which was possibly kept hidden, from the general public. The Southern states had a tax, on the sales of slaves.
By 1850, 64% of free American workers were farmers. Part of the reason they were able to have so many factory workers and slaves that used food, but not produce it, was increased farming machinery, from the 1840s. Technolgy for farming would go on to increase, in America.
The people with the subculture, of the northern states, were called Yankees. The states with Yankees, by 1850, had fully industrialised. They generally worked in factories, or farms. They also had more national pride, with no southern pride and less state pride, unlike the South.
The people from the western territories, did not have their specific subculture, but had a mixture of Yankee and southern immigrates. However, probably had a lot more Yankees, since there was more Yankees then Southerners, in America.
By 1850, the population of the non Native American population of America, was just over was 23 million. Including slaves and free, but legally unequal black people. In September, California would become state, as a non-slavery state.
In May, after a Native American tribe, in California killed 2 Americans. America under Zachary Taylor, through its military, killed all 150-200 members of the tribes, including teenage and child ones.
In 1850, territory from the unnamed territory, which was out of the former Louisiana territorial land. Had a small amount to form the territory of Minnesota. In July of 1850, President Zachary Taylor, would die. His Vice Yankee president, Millard Fillmore would replace him as president.

However, as territory land and not state land, it would not give full democracy to the small amount of citizens there. Which went against one of the excuses, of the war. The territorial land off Mexico, including that off Texas, would also form the territories of Utah, New Mexico. As well as add a small amount to the unnamed territory. Which was from Louisianan territorial land.
In 1851, in a conflict with a Native American tribe in California. America under President Millard Fillmore, sent soldiers to commit, the Bridge Gulch Massacre. Killing 150 Native Americans, including teenage and child ones.

That month Yankee, Franklin pierce would become President after election. Along with his Vice President and minster like, Cabinet members. One of which would include, the first Catholic Cabinet member. There wasn’t any previous Catholic Cabinet members, largely because most American Catholics, were the inferior viewed, racially Irish. Even though a Yankee, Franklin, he didn’t oppose slavery.

In July, America under Franklin pierce, sent Naval forces, under Admiral Mathew Perry, to open trade with Japan, through one Japanese city. Japan was a Asian country and Asian people were viewed as lesser, to even non Anglo, white people, due to lack of technology. However, not as much as black people. He would do this by threatening war with Japan and so city, a trade through one city was open.

The next day, Yankee James Buchanan became president. After election, he would try and fail to get America, though congress, to buy the Hispanic, Conley of Cuba, off Spain. Then James Buchanan sent 2,500 American soldiers, to head to be stationed, in the territory of Utah. The governor of Utah, Brigham Young, was of the Christian sub religion of Mormonism. Utah had Mormon immigrants in it. So fearing an anti Mormon take over, Utah under Brigham Young, declared war, with the Utah militia, starting the Utah war.

Utah allied up with native America tribes. In September, Utah and tribes, would massacre 120 non-Mormons, including teenagers, in the mountain meadows massacre.
Also in 1857, a slave named Dread Scott, would go the American Supreme Court in the Scotty VS standford, case. Dread claimed he and his family should be legally free, because his family, was forced to visit states, where slavery was banned.
