The 1950s began. By then the term teenager started. The term was a age group idea, for people aged 13-19. However, it generally applied to boys and girls, in high school. The income of people in America had improved very much since world war 2. Largely due to the industry surrounding the war, building up the economy. Which also made the American economy more powerful. Americans at this point had become very happy and had become less sexist and racist. Non flat screen Television, at this point and existed and more Americans were starting to own them.
Americans at this point, had embraced heavy national pride. By then American family values had decreased. Teenagers didn’t do much more then talking to families at dinner.
By the 1950s, sharecropping in the American South ended, which was where Southern plantation owners, scammed black workers, into working for them, ended.
Also by the 1950s, Unions membership had increased and discrimination against workers in unions was rare. Unions were organisations, supposed to help workers, with relations to their bosses.
By the 1950s, there was a American actress Marilyn Monroe. She was mostly famous for her beauty.

Then captured most of it. If North Korea conquered South Korea, it would spread communism. In June, America under Harry Truman, sent American military forces to try and re-capture it, along with South Korean forces. America and South Korea, began to battle North Korean forces and re-capture South Korea. This war was called the Korean War. America would have helicopters in the war and besides that, the warfare technology America had, was similar to world war 2.

America under Harry Truman, would do airstrikes on military targets on North Korea. These airstrikes would kill a large amount of North Korean civilians, in the cross fire. Some of the bombs used, by America were Napalm bombs, which killed by smoking and burning to death. This would include teenage and child Koreans. America also killed 50,000 South Korean civilians in the cross fire, trying to re-capture South Korea.
However, Americans generally, did not know about the cross fire kills. As the new and so forth, didn’t mention it.
There were cases of protest, against the involvement in the Korean War, in America. Often they were violently ended, by anti-communist extremists.
By October, America and South Korea had captured South Korea and most of North Korea. Possibly with the goal of making North Korea, apart of South Korea. Fearing America may invade China, communist China sent military forces to work with North Korean forces. To battle American and capitalist forces, to start capturing Korean territory. By January of 1951, they had captured North Korea and some of South Korea.
So American and South Korean forces, started fighting to take back South Korean territory. Also in 1951, in order to get more soldiers for the Korean war. America under Harry Truman, brought in conscription, to get more soldiers for the war. Also in 1951, North Korea had declared they wouldn’t be a puppet nation of the Cold War rival, the Soviet Union.
In 1951, America started doing nuclear bomb test within their country. To see how powerful they were.
In April of 1952, America ended the occupation of Japan. Making Japan a capitalist and democratic nation. That had a alliance and trade agreement with America. However, some would argue this was meant to faction like a vassal nation, of America. The population of Japan at that point, was over 80 million.
Also in 1952, Greece and Turkey joined the anti-communist alliance organisation, of NATO.
In January 1953, Dwight Eisenhower, who was a General for America in world war 2. Became president of America, under the Republican Party, after election.

In July, as part of the Korean War, Dwight Eisenhower threatened to use nuclear bombs, unless the communist enemies, admitted defeat. So a armistice, or unofficial end to the fighting, was signed in the Korean War, which ended the fighting. By then the territory was basically the same as before the war.
Also by the end of the war, 30,000 American soldiers had died in the war. As well as over 100,000 soldiers getting injured. America had also some money spent on the war. As well as have many soldiers fight. 100,000s of North Korean civilians, including teenage and child ones, were killed by bombs, including Napalm bombs. All by airstrike cross fire, by America.
America would still station some soldiers, in South Korea, to scare off North Korea, from invading. By that point, America had organised sanctions( trade cuts) with many other countries, on North Korea. |

In 1954, France summited defeat and peace, in their war, with rebels in Vietnam. The rebels would get northern Vietnam and make it into the communist nation, of north Vietnam. Southern Vietnam, would also be made into the capitalist nation, of south Vietnam. It would also be made into a American ally. However, some would argue, including the Vietnamese communists, that this was meant to function like a unofficial vassal nation of America. It’s population would be over 10 million people. Both Vietnams would be under dictatorships.
In 1954, a number of black parents went to the American Supreme Court. In the brown VS of board of education court case, to try ending the ban done by many states of black boys and girls going to school, for white boys and girls., So they could get their sons and daughters, going to those schools. As those schools were closer, then schools for black people. So the black parents won the case and America through the Supreme Court declared forced 17 states to end the ban. However, state of Arkansas went against this declaration. So placed state police at the school, to prevent the black boys and girls entering. So America under Dwight Eisenhower, sent federal/national police, to send them to the school.

By overthrowing the democratic government, that was socialist( non capitalist belief). That socialism was seen as the first step, to communism being spread to other Latin American nations. In December of 1955, in the southern state of Alabama. A black women called Rosa parks, was arrested for sitting in a seat, meant for white people. Getting revenge for the arrest, was the tie breaking reason, for the civil rights movement. It was a movement by black people, for equal legal rights for black people and to make it illegal for companies to commit racial discrimination, which particularly effected black people. The movement would do protest, as well as call for boycotts of buses with race based bus seats. There would be cases of Civil rights activist, having some police chiefs ordering them to be arrested. The leader of the civil rights movement, was Martin Luther king.

One far smaller movement, was started by a black man called Malcom X. It was a black identity movement, that wanted black nations given to black people. The movement was done under one of the goals, of the organisation, Nation of Islam.
In 1955, there was a communist rebellion, in the American ally of South Vietnam. So America under Dwight Eisenhower, started sending a large amount of military supplies, to South Vietnam, to fight the rebels. To stop the spread of communism and help the American ally.

So the Soviet Union threatened to use nuclear weapons, if Britain didn’t retreat. So America under Dwight Eisenhower, announced opposition and demanded to Britain they give in to the Soviet Union. Britain would then retreat.
By 1957, the punishment for anti-communist preachers in the Soviet Union was decreased. This made America less fearful of the Soviet Union and therefore decreased tensions in the cold war.

In 1959, the movie Ben-Hur came out. It was set in the Roman Empire, with the main character being Juda Ben-Hur. Who would be played by Actor Charleston Heston. The movie would become a blockbuster, in America.
In 1959, a rebellion in Cuba would overthrow the dictator of Cuba. They would make Cuba no longer a vassal America, which was a tittle America got after the Spanish America war. This was a blow to American power. The Cuban trade agreement with America, was also broken. Cuba would also be made communist. Which would spread communism. The rebel leader and the then dictator of Cuba, was Fidel Castro. After so, Cuba would be a rival of America. In this rivalry, America would send the C.I.A to try to assassinate him 100s of times, but fail.
