Lyndon B Johnson, believed if communism was spread in South Vietnam, it would spread to other Asian nations, to the point it might spread to India, which was his reasoning and excuses for the war. India had a particularly, big wealth gap between the classes. American people perhaps didn’t know, or think about the Indian class gap.
Australia would send forces to Vietnam, to help America, increasing the alliance between the 2 nations. Having a shared fear of communism, South Korea sent forces to help America. With America paying for the items and payments for the forces.

American air strikes done throughout the war, would kill a large amount of Vietnamese civilians, in the cross fire, including teenage and child ones. The American newspapers and news, did not tell of this to the American people.
Many of the bombs used in the American airstrikes included Napalm bombs, which killed by smoking and burning to death. Which was caused fire of the bombs. The bombs also destroyed Vietnamese civilian property. The reasons why so many napalm bombs were used, as opposed to only using other bombs, was because they were cheaper and the fire could scare enemy soldiers more.
The Communist rebels that America was trying to defeat, were called the Viet-Cong. They had also done cases of wartime bombings on civilians.
Some Americans, that did know more about civilian harm, by airstrikes. Protested America’s involvement in the war, throughout it. Martian Luther king would be one of the anti war involvement war leaders. There were some Americans, that even boycotted companies, that sold napalm bombs to the American military. A tiny amount of the protest were riots, or bombings of unmanned buildings.

To remove of some of the tree life, to see the soldiers. So they could be targeted easier. The agent orange was also done to destroy some of the farming crops, in South Vietnamese farms. Believing the crops, would go to the Vietnamese communist soldiers.
One belief by the American military leaders in the Vietnam war was, that killing communist forces would weaken their forces enough, to make the communist leaders give up and admit defeat.
The airstrikes in South Vietnam, did not work the way America wanted. As many of the Vietnamese communist forces, dug holes, with dug out tunnels, to take cover from the bombs. Possibly unknown to the American military leaders, the civilian harm, would get more Vietnamese, to join communist forces, out of wanting revenge
